Part of I-75 will have intermittent overnight lane closures on Thursday as crews complete pier work under the Rouge River bridge, officials announced.

Three lanes of northbound and southbound I-75 between Schaefer Road and Dearborn Street will be closed intermittently from Thursday night into Friday morning, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

This lane reduction is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, and go through 5 a.m. on Friday, June 6.

“Drivers should plan on the reduction from four lanes to one lane to be no more than one hour at a time, and this operation will occur several times on northbound and southbound I-75 during the work period,” according to a release from MDOT.

When I-75 is reduced to one lane, the northbound and southbound Schaefer Road ramps to I-75 will be closed.

Delays are expected during this work, and MDOT asks drivers to watch out for large crew trucks blocking lanes with assistance from police officers.
